If there is no background whatsoever for a canon character before the point of time the game starts at, are we allowed to make it up? (Some games are picky on this)

Absolutely! We definitely highly encourage character background, as it really establishes and sets apart your unique take on the character.

Totally up to you~! Any of the three would have some substantial plot to play with, so I guess you'll just have to pick which side you want to play on? xD

So... You make reference to Crisis Core, when discussing the game, but also talk about feeling nostalgic, so...

Is this game based primarily on Crisis Core or primarily on the Original Game? Is it a mix of both? I don't really know what angle you're coming from and I think it does set the tone of the game.

Also, I see upthread that you've stated that Tifa will be heavily involved in plot stuff... The game is set 2 years before she makes it to Midgar, however. This begs the question, how quickly are you intending to move this game?

Overall, every named character will have an important role to play. Just because Tifa is still in Nibel, doesn't mean she might not need some background time of her own. She is with Cloud, after all!

As for your first question, it's more a mix. There are those of us who are very nostalgic about the original game, and those of us who are either new to the games, or have also played the newer ones. We seek to bring in FF7 fans of all make and models. As for the tone, the tone is of itself. What happens at the beginning, of course affects what happens later. So to be more confusing, yes.

As for the speed, we'll just have to see how fast things go. Because this will be played in small snatches, via character journals, IMs, etc, some people might end up progressing farther and faster than others. We believe that as long as you keep yourselves aware of the timeline, and try to keep a decent track of it as you RP, and in your logs, we should be able to group it all in the end.

Each character you play will need their own individual journal, as they will be keeping a first person log in it, as well as the RP.

As this is based on CC I am just wondering about the presence of BC Turks. Particularly those that are not seen later on (ie: Katana and Rod) - are they permissible?

I ask this because it is often held as out-of-game knowledge that Katana killed Rod (and presumably either died himself, or just vanished under certain circumstances) and in that reference Katana/Rod would not be in-game.

Hey. We're loosely CC based, but if you look at the timeline, the events of CC and BC overlap almost entirely. Just different stuff happening at different times.

So yes! Absolutely we accept BC Turks. In fact, that'd be awesome :D And as for the fate of the characters, I guess that'd be up to you as the player. If we ever progress far enough in the timeline that certain characters are known to be dead, we would ask that you move the plot in a way that would take them out of the game, however you choose to do so and then you can app for a different character.

Aye, that it does~ but there is a grey area even in my brain about Katana/Rod. I know Veld etc. pop up later, just.. Ack - it's quite confusing~~ XD
